How this works
Enter two to seven tiles from your current rack into the Tiles field and press Find Words. The Scrabble Rack Scorer returns every valid word that can be formed from those letters, sorted by score from highest to lowest. Two score columns appear side by side: the Scrabble column uses standard tile values, and the Words With Friends column uses the separate WWF tile values, which differ significantly for some letters.
One of the most important scoring differences between the two games is the letter Z. In standard Scrabble, Z is worth ten points. In Words With Friends, Z is worth only one point. Other letters also differ: Q is worth ten points in Scrabble but eight in WWF. The solver shows both columns so you can pick the right play for the game you are actually playing.
If you have a blank tile in your rack, enter a question mark (?) in place of that tile. The blank can substitute for any letter, but it scores zero points. The solver accounts for this automatically: when a ? is used to form a word, the letter it represents contributes no point value, so the displayed score reflects only the actual letter tiles.
The solver uses the ENABLE (Enhanced North American Benchmark Lexicon) word list, a public-domain dictionary of approximately 172,000 words. The scores shown are base rack scores only — the solver does not know your board layout and cannot calculate bonuses from premium squares.
Results are sorted by Scrabble score by default. Click either column header to re-sort by that game's score without making a new server request.

Rack: AEINRST
| Word | Scrabble | WWF |
|---|---|---|
| RETAINS | 7 | 8 |
| NASTIER | 7 | 8 |
| ANTSIER | 7 | 8 |
The solver finds every valid word from your rack and scores it for both Scrabble and Words with Friends. AEINRST is one of the strongest 7-tile combinations in the game — all three results use all 7 tiles for a potential bingo bonus.
Rack: AEINRS? (? is a blank tile)
| Word | Scrabble | WWF |
|---|---|---|
| NASTIER | 7 | 8 |
| RETAINS | 7 | 8 |
| INSANER | 7 | 8 |
The ? is a blank tile — it can stand in for any letter and scores 0 points. Here it completes seven-letter words for a potential bingo bonus, even though the blank contributes nothing to the tile score.
Tips for using the Scrabble Rack Scorer
- Use ? in your rack input to represent a blank tile. The solver will find all words that the blank can complete, assigning it zero point value.
- Sort by the WWF column if you are playing Words With Friends — the rankings can differ substantially from Scrabble for racks containing Z, Q, or K.
- Look beyond the top result. Short high-value words like QI or ZA can outscore longer words when the longer word uses low-value tiles.
- Remember that the scores shown are base tile scores only. Your actual in-game score will be higher when you land tiles on double-letter, triple-letter, double-word, or triple-word premium squares.
- Enter just 2 or 3 tiles to explore plays when your rack has already been partially used or when you want to save high-value tiles for a better board position.
Frequently asked questions
Is this Scrabble word finder free to use?
Yes, completely free. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no limits on how many times you can use it.
Does it work for Words with Friends?
Yes. Every result shows both a Scrabble score and a Words with Friends score side by side. The two games use different tile values — for example, Z is worth 10 in Scrabble but only 1 in Words with Friends.
What dictionary does it use?
The solver uses the ENABLE dictionary, which contains over 172,000 words. This is a public-domain word list widely used for word game tools.
Does it calculate premium square scores?
No. The scores shown are the base tile values only. Premium squares (double letter, triple word, etc.) depend on board position, which varies every game.
How are words ranked?
Words are sorted by Scrabble score from highest to lowest by default. You can click the column headers to re-sort by Words with Friends score or alphabetically.
